Sheriff Candidate Announced!

First Sergeant Sherri Heichelbech currently serves in the Professional Standards Section of the Indiana State Police.  She has been with the Indiana State Police for nearly twenty-seven years.  During her career she has served as a road trooper, crime scene investigator, respect for law camp director, team leader and instructor for the underwater search and rescue dive team.  She is an original member of the Indiana State Police Women’s mentoring steering committee.  She is a member in good standing of NAWLEE  (National Association of Women Law Enforcement Executives) and is currently serving as a member of their Executive Board.   

First Sergeant Heichelbech graduated from Vincennes University with an Associates Degree in Psychology.  She then furthered her education at University of Southern Indiana and earned a Bachelors degree of Psychology.

First Sergeant Sherri Heichelbech is a lifelong resident of Spencer County.  She is a local business woman operating Thrasher Farms Inc. and Hot Rod Cattle Company.  She has been active in the community for many years.  She has served on the Spencer County Credit Union Board, the 4-H Association Board, she has also been a leader for the Horse and Pony Club.  Having the experience of being a collegiate diver, she brought those talents back to Spencer County where she was a swimming and diving coach for South Spencer Middle and High School.  She has raised four children, one daughter and three sons.  She has provided the local community schools and other organizations with public appearances on law enforcement, safe driving, and emergency preparedness planning.  She also attended the Leadership Spencer County Course.  She is an avid athlete and has completed eleven Ironman triathlons throughout the United States.

First Sergeant Heichelbech has always embraced any challenge.  She looks forward to the opportunity of serving the citizens of Spencer County as their Sheriff.
