Aaron Patrick Benton is seeking his third term for Spencer County Council at Large. Aaron is 39 years old and a life-long resident of Spencer County. He resides in rural Rockport with his wife, Margie and son, Oliver. Aaron is a graduate of South Spencer High School and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University. He is a Key Account Specialist with AgriGold Hybrids and has a first-generation family farm, farming ground in Ohio and Grass townships.
The Benton family are active members of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Rockport. Aaron is currently serving as the President of the County Council for 2020. He is currently president of Spencer County Farm Bureau Incorporated and a past master of Rockport Masonic Lodge # 112. Aaron has served as a past president of Spencer County 4-H Association and a former member of the Youth and Community Board at the 4-H Fairgrounds. One of Aaron’s proudest accomplishment was being co-chairman of the building committee for the new Youth and Community Center at the 4-H Fairgrounds which opened in 2014. Aaron believes it is important to give of his time and treasure through community activities and organizations.
If re-elected to the County Council, Aaron would ensure that broadband internet continues to be brought to rural Spencer County Citizens. In his current term on the County Council, he has been a huge supporter and advocate for getting internet to the rural citizens. Aaron also supports helping with programs and facilities to help the youth of Spencer County build life skills. The youth are the future of the county and building a place they want to live in and come back to will allow for the county to sustain and grow. Aaron supports keeping property taxes affordable for the citizens. He knows that the citizens of Spencer County work hard for their money and works with others on the County Council to use conservative principles to financially manage county government.
